How to Beat Poptropica Mythology Island

Mythology Island is the twelfth island available in the popular online game, Poptropica. The main goal of the island is to recover five sacred items, in exchange for which Zeus says he will grant you immortality. To retrieve all the items, you’ll need to visit different realms and defeat different creatures and monsters.

These are some of the secrets and cheats for Mythology Island.

  • begin your journey at Olympus Village Main Street and go to the Museum of Olympus. As soon as you enter, you’ll see a short animation that explains the rivalry between Zeus, Poseidon and Hades after they defeat the Titans. There are also several statues of the Gods here and if you click on them you can learn all about them. Over on the right side, one of the statues Poseidon has a starfish on its face. Grab the starfish because you’ll need it later.
  • Leave the museum and go to the right to enter the Grove of the Temples. Run all the way to the right and get one of the free pipe. Then go click on the statue of the muse who is holding a reed pipe and she will teach you a song.
  • Now walk outside and return to Main Street. Then go further left and you’ll get to a new area which is the base of a tree. Next jump up on the white marble staircase and continue up into the big tree.
  • Once you’re in the tree you need to get to the upper right. You can climb on the red snakes and jump over the tree branches. You’ll find a satyr standing on the tree up top. Click on him and he’ll ask you to collect honey. Collect 10 of the honey pots in 60 seconds and he will show you the way to the Golden Apple.
  • After you go grab the apple, Zeus will appear and he’s very upset. However he tells you he will grant you immortality if you find 5 very sacred items that he needs. As listed on the Sacred Items Scroll, they are : a flower from the garden of the Sphinx, the ring from the nose of the Minotaur, a giant pearl from the kingdom of Poseidon, a scale from the Hydra and one of Cerberus’ whiskers.
  • When you leave the tree and go back down to the base, you’ll meet Athena, who has been disguised as an old woman. She’ll give you a warning that her father, Zeus, may not be telling you the truth. She arranges for you to use the olive trees as a source of information.
  • Go left across the bridge to the Garden of the Sphinx. There is a dying fower next to the Sphinx. To bring it to life, you need to open the aqueduct up above with the switches and gates and get the water flowing again. Collect the rare flower and pick pomegranates from the tree above the Sphinx.
  • Use the Reed Pipe at left, playing the eight colored notes on the wheel that opens the Minotaur cave. blue-blue-green-yellow-yellow-red-blue-green
  • Go in and speak to the Minotaur, and enter his Cave Maze. Athena gives you magical golden thread to keep you from getting totally lost inside the Minotaur’s labyrinth. Head for the weapons displays to keep on track. At the Pan bones, remove the bones so that the remaining ones spell out the letters TEN. Continue along and leap over the scorpion in your way. Now go through the open doorway and you’ll appear in a new room, which has the hardest puzzle in the game. Click the red-eyed snake when it appears, three times hard to spot only that snake – takes some practice.
  • Take the Minotaur’s ring and return to the right, to Olympus Village. Go right, past the Grove of Temples to the lairs of Hades below and Poseidon far right. You can do either one first, but in this walkthrough, we’ll start with Poseidon’s temple on the far right.
  • Walk inside the temple. Place the starfish that you found earlier on the Poseidon statue’s face onto the altar inside.
  • Go through into Poseidon’s kingdom and then run to the left on the beach. Soon you’ll find Aprodite, the goddess of beauty. She will give you a short test of the gods and if you get them all right, you will receive a magic mirror from her. The gods are Ares, Hermes, Aphrodite, Artemis, and Hestia.
  • Go into the water to the left and dive down underwater near where you see the statue. There are extra oxygen bubbles, but the direct path is across the top, then down the right side, and left along the bottom. Soon you’ll get to the entrance to the Hydra’s lair. Before you go into it, get the giant pearl inside the clam that’s above and to the right of the cave entrance.
  • The Hydra here has five heads. To defeat her, jump up just as each head is attacking you and then land on top of it to knock the head out. After you beat the Hydra, swim down below to get a scale from her body. Exit using the mirror to reach Aphrodite heart symbol, and walk back right to go to Hades.
  • Outside the temple, you’ll see lots of graffiti. There’s a worker outside and he’ll pay you a drachma to clean up all of the graffiti.
  • Now go inside the temple of Hades and put the pomegranates you found in the tree on top of his altar. Now you can enter the Underworld. Jump down into the cavern and you’ll fall down into the River Styx, where you’ll see Charon and his boat.
  • While riding in the ferry, you need to watch out for all the obstacles that come at you. A great tip to avoid them is to stand where Charon is. You still need to duck under the flaming skull and jump over the monster in the river, but the falling stalactite will miss you each time.
  • You’ll land on the other shore and here is Cerebus guarding the place. Play the song you learned from the Muse on your reed pipe. The notes are blue, green, yellow, blue, red, green. Now that Cerberus has fallen asleep, you can take the whisker from him. Just ignore the large boulder you see here because you’ll need help from Hercules later to move it. Now you can return to the Gate of Olympus on Main Street with the help of the mirror.
  • Now that you have all five items, head left to the forest again, where Athena will meet you and you must assemble the Sacred Items to reveal their secret message “Whoever wields the five sacred objects will rule all of Poptropica”. Zeus will appear and take all the items away from you so that he can finally conquer all of Poptropica. Athena tells you to speak to Hercules, her brother, and get his help. Hercules will agree to help finally, and together you should travel to the Underworld of Hades using the magic mirror.
  • Hercules will move the giant boulder and wait outside. Speak with Hades and he will give you his crown, which will help you defeat Zeus.
  • Next, use the magic mirror to go to Poseidon’s kingdom. Underwater, Hercules opens the rock passage to the Throne Room, and Poseidon gives you his trident.
  • The next step is to use the mirror one more time to travel to the gates to Olympus on Main Street. The gates are locked, but that’s no problem for the powerful Hercules.
  • On the mountain, Hercules encounters Medusa and is petrified into a stone statue.
  • Use the drachma to buy a wind bag from Aeolus at his Wind Wagon. Use the bag of wind to get onto the mountain and then climb and jump your way to the very top, where you’ll see Zeus’ throne. Now light up all four of the statues of Zeus. He will be summoned and then will fight you in the final battle.
  • The Hades crown and Poseidon’s trident allow you to fly about as you and Zeus trade thunderbolt attacks. You want to get Zeus’ health meter to zero and it ticks down a notch each time you hit him. If he hits you, you lose power, as indicated by the pink clouds that hold you up. Don’t lose all of your clouds or Zeus will be triumphant and you will need to battle him again. Gather the little pink clouds as you fly, to replenish the larger cloud.
  • Part-way into the battle, Zeus will start to glow and throw spinning white balls of energy. You need to watch out for these too. He is only vulnerable to your attacks when he is not glowing.
  • It may take a while, but if you keep at it, you will defeat Zeus. He will return all five items from your quest and Athena will appear to reward you with the island medallion.

That is it for the Poptropica Mythology Island walkthrough. Congratulations and have fun with the 100 credits you get as a reward.
